Character illustration

The Media Conseil agency based in Paris asked me to create illustrations for Véolia. The aim was to picture their forward looking approach and skills development.

My job as an illustrator was therefore to create a refined, fun and corporate universe. The characters drawn in Illustrator were sent to the Flash animator so that he could give life to the sketches.

This was an Internal communication campaign and a web support medium destined for the entire Véolia group. Internal communication or corporate communication is essential to deliver messages and information. Indeed, press communication isn’t the only way to communicate. More and more companies have an intranet, set up poster campaigns and events to inform their employees about new products,  important information etc. My work as a graphic designer will help you communicate in a simple and effective way. Creating characters in real-life situations will make it easier for employees, shareholders and partners to understand and digest texts that are sometimes too technical.

Staging of the characters

I work with this company on a regular basis to help them achieve an overall visual unity. For example, I have illustrated various characters for Véolia to help convey a message. For this illustration work, I wanted to offer another type of flat character design so I followed my usual process: sketch, back and forth communication, colouring via illustrator to create vector characters, client’s feedback and finally client’s approval. All the illustrations were then entrusted to their parisian branch agency to produce an animated video of about 4.5 minutes, which was relatively long for communication animation.

Professional training through illustration

This is an Internal communication campaign for Veolia that is in the form of a poster but that was also displayed on the internet. I featured employee characters each occupying a specific role within the company. Illustration on the vocational training reform. Sketch of characters employed in a company explaining the different stages and paths of an employee’s vocational training. Pedagogical illustration, typographic composition, vector illustration. Internal communication is important especially for large companies. Using illustration is an excellent way of getting a message across more quickly and in a pedagogical way. The aim is to ensure that the message is understood at a glance. The task of the illustrator is therefore to convey this message via characters, typography or other means without being childish or too complex. Creating a visual message also makes it more enjoyable to read. Illustration is therefore the simplest and most direct way to communicate and support a text.
