What is geothermal energy?

Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source that uses the Earth’s natural heat to generate electricity, heating or cooling. This energy is generated by heat from the Earth’s interior, which is transferred to the surface through the Earth’s crust. Geothermal energy is an inexhaustible source of energy, not dependent on weather conditions and emitting no greenhouse gases. It is therefore considered a sustainable, environmentally-friendly energy solution.

Unigeo, a company specializing in geothermal energy, called on my skills to create several tarpaulin illustrations for their site. Unigeo needed to make information about geothermal drilling, the stakes, the duration and the benefits of such a project accessible to everyone in an educational way.

So I created 3 large banners:

– General information: who the partners are and what’s at stake.

– What is geothermal drilling, with a diagram and the different strata of the earth.

– How a geothermal network works, along with key project figures.

It was a complex job that required me to draw on some of my own knowledge, but also to be briefed by the customer via existing diagrams. Here, it was important to combine graphic design and illustration in order to have graphically coherent panels. However, the company didn’t have a graphic charter, so I was given carte blanche for the typography and the various color codes.

Unigeo called on my services because they needed a graphic illustrator with a strong knowledge of the environment, as well as a solid grounding in illustration and graphic design. In particular, I invite you to take a look at some of the other diagrams I’ve created for the energy recovery project, which echo the geothermal drilling.

Educational illustrations

Educational illustrations are an excellent way of making complex information more accessible and understandable for everyone, and this is particularly important when it comes to geothermal projects. Indeed, geothermal drilling is a complex process involving many technical, scientific and environmental aspects, and it is essential to be able to explain these issues clearly and concisely.

Construction site tarpaulins are an ideal medium for educational illustrations on geothermal energy. Tarpaulin illustrations can be easily placed on the project site, providing an immediate visualization of the various stages of geothermal drilling, as well as the challenges and benefits of this renewable energy source.

Tarpaulin illustrations can also be designed to attract the interest of visitors, passers-by or site workers.
