Amusement Park décor and design – K’ptain Park

K’ptain park is an amusement park in the city of Toulouse that had a significant problem. It was getting rather old and could have done with a lick of paint, but most importantly needed a strong brand identity to capture the interest of customers. 

This is why the Sodenada agency called upon me as a mascot designer. The park’s manager had a clear idea of where he wanted to go and what he wanted to achieve in redecorating the park. In the briefing Sodenada stated this should be a fox mascot dressed as a pirate. 

I started with initial sketches of the fox mascot design. After exploring different options, my client approved of the direction we’d take so I could proceed with drawing the fox mascot and I created it in vector graphics. Using vector graphics was crucial since the design had to be adapted to the park’s large scale murals. 

After creating the mascot I was briefed to adapt the theme of the pirates to the mural decorations. 

I work on children’s based illustrations regularly and I really enjoy it. I am also very familiar with mascot design (see here my work on mascots and their variations) whether it is for children’s publishing or for enterprise communication.

For the mural decoration, the brief mentioned the following words : pirate theme, colorful frescoes, abundant with details and keeping with the spirit and ideas around foxes. The objective was to make the park fun and appealing for the kids and their families. 

I did 3 main frescoes.

An illustration on the birthday theme, another one for the main entrance and the biggest one I did (25 meters) was adapted to the pirate theme and included treasures, boats, cannons, mermaids, islands and octopus. 

K’ptain Park trusted me completely for this project so I was given carte blanche in the whole creation process.
