Audiobooks are booming. They immerse you in another world when you get that perfect combination between narrator and story.

Children’s stories would not be the same without the illustrations. “The imaginary station” is a book I illustrated, with different stories for children ages 5-7.

Each story has a different theme that transports children into funny, fantastic and educational worlds. The children will go on an adventure and will learn about spelling, exploring, musical discovery, creativity.

There’s also an escape game where your mission is to infiltrate doctor Mordicus’ secret lab and thwart his evil plans.

For this project I created 4 covers using the stories’ playful characters but also games like crossword puzzles, spot-the-difference pictures, mazes and colouring games so that kids can continue to have fun once they’ve finished the stories. This is a great way to keep your kids busy 🙂 

And as a little bonus, Henri Dès himself was the narrator of the Abracadabra theme. He is a very popular french children’s singer and songwriter.

From art direction to illustration

For this project I also worked on the artistic direction. I had full freedom in terms of characters and other creative picks. I submitted a monster illustration to my client as he was looking for a fun and original character but in the end we went for playful animals which were softer and more suitable for kids.
