Working method between the client and the freelance graphic designer

The process stages of your illustration project

This is an illustration I’ve made to show what it’s like to work with me. I will guide you through the whole process from start to finish. 

Initial contact and pricing

I will provide a costing based on your specific requirements. The price I charge includes the ceding of rights and VAT. 

Once the fee has been agreed, I proceed with the development stage and I start doing sketches that I will send back to you for feedback.  

These are presented via email so that there is space for you to make comments and discuss different design directions. Once you are satisfied with the initial designs, the illustration development stage begins and I can start colouring via Photoshop, Illustrator and sometimes using markers by Posca.

Colors 

Colouring is an important step that will bring your initial sketches to life. When I am finished with coloring and my client is fully satisfied with the result  I send him the final files by email and I make sure I store my work on a private server so that one can easily download it. The last step is paperwork, invoicing and payment. 

Final mission

Even when all the work is done, it is important to be available and attentive when following up with a client. It’s important to keep in touch and be ready to make minor corrections if needed to keep the client happy. It is essential to maintain an exceptional quality of work in order to strengthen your relationship with your current clients or to get new project opportunities in the future. Knowing this pushes me to excel at this work as not only is client satisfaction key, but personal pride in work well done is equally as important. What’s more exciting than to see your creation come to life ? 

This type of illustrative work is inspired by comics but also by computer graphics and mindmapping.

I did a lot of creative and research work, notably on the typography. 

As companies, ad campaigns and communications grow more visual, I am regularly commissioned to create custom character illustrations for businesses to appear in internal communications or promotional materials.
